Purchasing Cloak usage works just like a prepaid phone
card.
After paying our third-party payment service or retailer,
you will receive a PIN-code valid for a certain number of megabytes
of usage. This PIN-code expires after you use up your usage allowance,
or after a certain number of days has elapsed from the date of purchase.
Currently, usage costs 1.7 cents per
megabyte, and PIN-codes expire 60 days after purchase.
Purchasing usage this way gives you the following benefits
- More usage - no more lockouts
- A faster connection. Free users are subject to a bandwidth cap, but pay users get more bandwidth.
- Small minimum purchase - no subscription, no commitment
- Inexpensive - if you use a 32k phone-modem, this service costs about 23 cents an hour
- No usage penalty for adult content - for the free service, adult
usage counts 4.0 times
more towards your quota than regular usage
But before you buy, please understand that- We will give refunds for a period of 3 days after purchase,
if your PIN is substantially unused. We reserve the right to pro-rate
any refunds to account for the maximum of time or traffic consumed.

- If you lose your PIN-code, we will not be able to trace it,
or give you a new one.
- If your PIN does not work through some fault of ours,
please email us.
- We may restrict your ability to use your PIN to perform financial transactions for 36 hours after PIN purchase, to prevent fraudulent use of this service
- We do not log which PIN is used to visit which web site. We do not
make persistent logs of the times a particular PIN logs in. The only
records we keep are the PINs themselves, when and from which IP address a
PIN is first accessed, and when a PIN is consumed or expired. To resolve
sales problems in which a customer gives us the transaction number
used to purchase a PIN, we may ask our third party billing agent which PIN
is associated with the transaction number given.
- If we find that a PIN was purchased fraudulently, we may use our log
of the IP from which it was first accessed to pursue the person responsible
for the fraud.
- If your ISP, country, or company blocks access to our site,
there is nothing we can do. We will not offer a refund if this happens.
- When you purchase a PIN code, you purchase a certain number of
megabytes of usage. We define a megabyte of usage as
a megabyte of filtered content (like web pages, images, or film clips)
sent to you from our server.
Your PIN-code expires 60 days after purchase, even if you do not use it up by then.
- This service does not handle all types of content, and all possible web pages. By purchasing this service, you agree that you understand this.
In particular, this service cannot handle:
- Java that establishes a direct network connection to their servers - this can include many chat rooms.
- Streaming media (like some video and audio) that connects directly to its server - however, some streaming media players allows you to
configure them to use the HTTP protocol, in which case the Cloak
might work.
- Any other content, usually plug-ins, that establishes a direct connection to the originating server, and bypasses the HTTP protocol
- FTP, Gopher content.
- hotmail, yahoo mail may NOT work, but plain html gmail (http://mail.google.com/mail?ui=html) DOES seem to work
- Defective HTML that we can't patch up and filter - many if not most web pages have invalid HTML, and we can't always patch them up.
- Pages that use invalid cookies.
- Certain types of Javascript and other scripts, and pages that manipulate cookies using Javascript
- Pages to which the site owner has asked us to block access.
- Additionally, there may be some pages for which our filtration simply fails, or other failure modes we cannot forsee.
If there is a bug in our service, we will try to fix it, but
this may take time, and we cannot guarantee that we will be able to solve
the problem. - This service provides a reasonable attempt to protect your
privacy and anonymity, but these cannot be guaranteed.
- You agree not to hold us responsible for server or network downtime
of under 30 days. In the event of server downtime of more than 1 contiguous
day, your PIN-code expiration date will be adjusted accordingly.
- We can provide very little technical assistance,
particularly concerning questions answered in our FAQ.
It is very expensive and time consuming for us to answer questions.

free service works before signing up for the pay service.
